Some groups are partnering with civic groups to plant trees to restore damage left by logging. Other groups in rural communities are restocking fish. For several years the Prey Lang Community has tried to prevent illegal logging in the Wildlife Sanctuary--one of SE Asia's last remaining lowland evergreen woodlands. By Cambodian law, logging is illegal here but it continues.

Yes, they do-- both according to Cambodian law which protects ancestral minorities AND according to the United Nations.

In 2007, the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) was adopted and signed by 144 countries--including Cambodia Some of these rights include self-governance and ancestral land and habitat.

Article 18 "Indigenous people have the right to participate in decision-making in matters which would affect their rights, through representatives chosen by themselves in accordance with their own procedures, as well as to maintain and develop their own indigenous decision-making institutions.

Article 26. 1. Indigenous peoples have the right to the lands, territories, and resources that they have traditionally owned, occupied, or otherwise used or acquired.

The Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act can be a tool within one's own country to address human rights abuses in another country. For example, the United States and Australia have imposed economic sanctions and denied entry into the USA of foreign persons who engaged in human rights abuses or corruption in their own country.
